An Income Opportunity: Bed & Breakfast
Whenever we travel, we always try to find a reputable B+B to stay at. Many times, they are more economical, you're served a homemade breakfast and, the best part, you actually get to sit and talk with people from all over the world who are also travelling, an opportunity one rarely finds at a hotel.
This house is has been completely restored and optimized with that in mind, and is ready for you to try your hand at this venture. The Emo Inn is the only overnight accommodation in town, so a service like this has could no doubt be a success!
Many times, when there are local events going on the annual Emo Walleye Classic in May and the annual Fall Fair in August, as examples, along with many hockey tournaments there are no vacancies in Emo, and many have to stay in Fort Frances, a half hour drive to the east. The Emo LaVallee Community Centre/Arena, where many such events take place, is a 45 second walk from the house. Wedding receptions are also regularly held at the community centre, which one could also capitalize on. The master suite upstairs could become the "honeymoon suite" for out-of-town couples, or even newlyweds on their wedding night!
Emo is located only 30 minutes west of the international border crossing between Fort Frances, Ontario and International Falls, Minnesota. Over the last five years, border crossings have averaged 758,000 per year. Tourism is a huge part of the local economy and with the home being situated on Highway 11/17 through Emo, you could also easily capitalize on overnight travellers, too.
With ample off-street parking and a central location in both the town and in the district, you would have no problem operating a successful B&B that could go a long way to covering a mortgage payment for not a lot of work!
