Requiem for the Jingle

Please, bow your heads. The advertising jingle is dead.

It seems that jingles are being rapidly replaced by poppish, top-40 tunes for reasons of economy, and adjusting to the realities of marketing to the echo generation.

It makes one wonder...how many potential Barry Manilows are there whose careers may now never begin? You deserve a break today...

Gonna Have to Add a New Section

Just when you think you've got a design for a web site down pat, *something* changes, and the whole structure of the site has to be revamped.
Frances and I are proud to announce that on or about the 24th of August of this year, we are expecting a new addition to the family. We're pregnant!
Everything thus far is all green lights. We've had two ultrasounds already -- can you rent those things? Although we are silently regretting the timing (third trimester and August NW Ontario heat are *not* a good combo, apparently), we're absolutely ecstatic.
More updates on this most-cool development as they occur.

More Christmas day photos

I know, I know. Bad, thoughtless parent. This would be so much easier if someone would come up with a broadband internet solution of any kind in our area. In the meantime, it's pathetic old dialup for us.

There are eight photos within. Click below to see them...

Find the trusty sidekick in this photo

From the trip to Vancouver, Gareth visits the shrine of the Lone Ranger -- which also happens to be in Greg Douglas's spare room. Of the four who posed with the Lone Ranger and Tonto that day, I'd go with Gareth being the cutest. Of course, the other three are either (a) grey-haired or (b) bald, so it's not a tough contest.

The home of the future even without a toilet

Microsoft has designed the home of the future, which actually packs a lot of seriously-cool features into the home, except for one tiny thing: the loo.
No, I'm not becoming a Microsoft shill or anything, but I can acknowledge when someone comes up with a good idea...even if I don't like their bread and butter.
(Bizarrely, my Sega Dreamcast is also powered by a product from Microsoft. Now *I'm* getting concerned myself.... :-)
